Thankfulness
The following are a few passages of Scripture that teach us about thankfulness. These are portions of God’s Word on which we should meditate and then apply them to our lives. Psa. 50:14 “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: 15. And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” Psa. 105:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the people. 5. Remember his marvelous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; 42. For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant. 43. And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness: 44. And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people; 45. That they might observe his statues, and keep his laws. Praise ye the Lord.” Psa. 107:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever. 2. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; 15. O that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 22. And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing. 42. The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth. 43. Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the Lord.” Psa. 118:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; because his mercy endureth for ever. 4. Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.” Eph. 5:4 “Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient; but rather giving of thanks. 19. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the nane of our Lord Jesus Christ;” Phil. 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Col. 1:12 “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;” Col. 2:7 “Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” Col. 3:15 “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” 1 Thess. 5:18 “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Tim. 2:1 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;” Heb. 13:15 “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”
