LearningAt St. Andrew's Preschool we provide sound Christian teaching and a good learning enviornment. Our curriculum is taught through the natural processes of child development. The emphasis for young children is play, creativity and vocabulary development. Some of the activities children love to participate in are art, music and drama. Fine motor skills are practiced at all age levels. The children develop social skills as they learn to work and play together and help each other. Making friends provides them with a more positive self-image.Our program is designed to enhance the development of pre-math and reading readiness skills through many hands-on manipulatives and activities. Blocks and books are very important learning tools used. All elements of "school readiness" are presented, usually in a fun, enjoyable game, story or song. Science is explored through experiments, stories, art projects and/or play. Children also need to exercise their bodies as well as their minds. Physical coordination and strength are refined as skills are developed in balance, jumping, running, and climbing. Progressing in these skills helps children increase their self-confidence. St. Andrew's Preschool Offers:
PhilosophySt. Andrew's Preschool of Tinley Park is a ministry of the Reformed Episcopal Church and as such we stress the importance of the spiritual development of each child. We believe that each child is a special gift God has given us to help nurture, understand and meet their needs. Therefore, Bible stories and verses will be taught to the children on a regular basis.PurposeThe purpose of the St. Andrew's Preschool is to provide a loving, caring and safe Christian environment for the children of our community.ObjectivesGod has given us the responsibility to teach, nurture, help, understand, and meet the needs of our children. We believe that children need such care for Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto Me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven." At St. Andrew's preschool children will learn and benefit from activities which help them develop emotionally, socially, intellectually, physically, and spiritually. |
